SitEducate Architecture
SitEducate has been developed in .Net with a triple-layer architecture. This open, flexible and extensible architecture makes it possible to create plug-ins, adjust preferences, manage events and integrate.
Rather than custom developing every component of SitEducate we have instead integrated a number of best-of-breed applications that provide schools with access to very powerful and yet affordable solution. This approach has the added benefit of providing ongoing version updates and support documentation. Schools therefore not only benefit from enhancements to SitEducate functionality but also receive the latest version of the underlying technology architecture.
SitEducate uses the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) as a web server to handle web publication. All the information displayed online is stored behind the scenes, in a Microsoft SQL database. The web server and the database are run on a Windows web server housed in a secure data centre for maximum reliability and security.
Content Management System Platform
The SitEducate platform can be divided into a number of parts with the EPiServer content management system being at the core. It is this system that supports version management, preview, workflow, rights to the page and much more. On top of the core are a number of parts that enable schools to benefit from the powerful SitEducate functionality.
-
The first part features a unique design for each school.
-
The second part is the online functionality which is available to all SitEducate schools.
-
The next part consists of the rights or permissions that are assigned to editors and visitors to access and update content.
-
The fourth part is the information or content which is stored in a database.
SitEducate also uses the same authorization model as Windows which provides a secure, stable and familiar environment for system users. Images and documents that editors upload onto the web server are stored in one or more separate data sources on the web server.

EPiServer is consistently ranked in the top 10 content management systems globally and is considered by IDC to be “the fastest growing” worldwide CMS system.
